Arrangements

These floral arrangements celebrate the great diversity of the natural world. Some are procured from my own cottage garden, others were foraged or found in local flower shops, then painted alla prima from life in my studio. This way of working for the artist is much like jazz for the musician. There is an arrangement chosen, but lots of room is left for improvisation to make each piece feel alive and one of a kind. As a small nod to this connection, once complete each piece in the series is named after an American jazz standard which I believe embodies the playfulness, vibrancy, and emotion I experience in making this work.
